HF & P designed and detailed a 54m x 55m x 12m deep cooling water intake and settling pit at Tanjung Bin coal-fired power station in Johor, Malaysia.

At 2100MW this power station is one of the largest of its kind in SE Asia, has won awards for emissions reduction and was completed on time and under budget.

The project required 15 000m3 of reinforced concrete, all designed to stringent crack control requirements in a difficult coastal environment.

Construction required extensive use of caissons, sheet piling and bentonite in order to provide the right environment for the casting of concrete.
